We wish we could help more counties but until we get Logan County under control, it's not possible at this time.
The mission at Helping Community Paws and Claws Inc. (HCPC) is to Spay and Neuter as many animals as possible. Our goal is to help with the overpopulation of unwanted animals and end the suffering.
We specialize in:
HCPC relies solely on donations.
HCPC is dedicated to Saving lives one snip at a time.
HCPC was founded by Lisa New Guthrie. Ok. in 2021.
Welcome, my name is Lisa New and below is little bit about me and why I started HCPC.
My husband Chris and I have been married since 1988, we both ride and train horses, that we have raised together, and I also barrel race.
We moved to Guthrie from Oklahoma City, in 1986. I have been a pet groomer for forty years and a few after moving to Guthrie, I opened my own grooming shop named Country Cuts.
I’m an animal lover and been rescuing them all my life. I especially love cats and have a huge compassion for homeless kitties, so I started a mission help street cats with TNR. I was at a Sonic here in Guthrie one day, about 5 years ago, and realized there were about 40 cats there. I met their caregiver, Kelly Lucas, whom has cared for them for several years, providing food and water. I made it my mission to get all 40 cats spayed/neutered. Those 40 cats were able to live out their years (or still living) with no threat of multiple litters, resulting in hundreds of more cats.
I then joined forces with Von Coburn , Friends of Guthrie Animals, Inc. (FOGAS). She would help with funds for the TNR and I would fundraise for the remaining costs, so I could continue my work. In 2019, I trapped 134 cats at Noble and I-35, as well as bottle-fed 48 noenate kittens (orphans), getting up every 2 hours for feeding and medication. I was able to raise them, get them all vetted and adopted out to loving home. I took most of the 134 cats to OSU for their Operating Catnip Program, while there for the day, I would volunteer my time, while the cats were being vetted. I‘m happy to say I have TNR’d 1500 and counting streets cats in our city in the past five years.
When I learned that FOGAS was shutting down, I realized I had to do something to continue to reduce the overpopulation in our town. From that, Helping Community Paws and Claws Inc. was created. Between working 2 full-time jobs, riding horses, taking in orphan kitties and occasional puppies, I didn’t know how I would have time to run my own non-profit, but I knew I had to do something.
My main focus and goal with HCPC are to help with AND educate the community on the importance of spay/neutering. I am not a shelter, or animal control for Logan County. What I am is a person who saw a problem and am doing the best I can. With your help I know we can and will make a difference together, one snip at a time.
I know that with God’s guidance and the help from the amazing volunteers and community, we can make a difference, even if it’s one ear tip at a time.
Thank you all, who have already supported, donated, volunteered and shared the word of HCPC, I truly can't do it without you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and the paws send their gratitude as well.
